About Us

Tour the Mason food Pantry

Our Mission still embodies the same spirit as when it all began, which is to help those among us who have temporary income shortfall or short-term excess expenses by providing basic food and health care goods at no cost.

Our location at Grace Chapel, has been designed to look like a “corner market” to help people feel at home. We have a fresh vegetable and fruit cart, breads displayed in baskets, snacks to munch on while you are shopping, a children’s play area and more.

The pantry is staffed solely by volunteers. Here's a few facts about what they do.

  • Most of our 38 pantry staff members work a day or two per month. They are there to assist clients while shopping as well as to help prepare the store for opening and cleanup at closing.
  • Our Pantry Manager responibilities include client intake and care, maintaining the database and general operation of the pantry and staff during store hours.
  • We also have four volunteers who pickup donated perishable food itmes several times a week. They also stock the shelves and getting the food ready for clients.
  • Our Director responibilites include fundraising, donor developement, grant writing and pantry policies.
  • The total volunteer hours for 2010 was close to 2000 hours.

Our current programs include:

  • Feeding Mason, we currently serve people that reside in the Mason School District.
  • Food Recovery Program, we share our excess food with other Warren, Butler and Hamilton Counties pantries, soup kitchens and shelters. Our goal is to expand our efforts in soliciting, warehousing, and distributing food to other County non-profit agencies that offer hunger relief that are not part of a larger food bank program.

Statement of Values

We believe in the power of community.  We collaborate and build strong relationships, based on trust, with and among those who share our vision of creating a hunger-free Warren County and beyond.  We work together to accomplish the vision at the local level, valuing each other's roles and using an open process and honest communication.

We keep faith with the public trust through the efficient and compassionate use of resources entrusted to us and are mindful that our mission is accomplished through the generosity of others.  We evaluate and account regularly for how resources are used to implement and achieve our mission.

Background

The majority of those we help to feed through our pantry are hard-working families who simply cannot make ends meet. They are parents in unemployed middle class,, minimum-wage jobs, , the elderly on fixed income.
